hallo kind folks.so this is The Place where i will give you all the latest news on my adventures in iceland. my goal is to update this blog every two weeks, after each of my programmes. i am volunteering with an environmental-based organization called SEEDS. here's a quick description of the activities i will be participating in while in iceland:
programme one___ may 5 - 20
location___ isafjarðardjúp (in northwest iceland - a "remote location in the icelandic western fjords")
activity___ cleaning, painting, planting vegetables, helping in horse-stables
programme two___ may 27 - june 10
location___ skagafjörður (the cultural capital of the north)
activity___ renovation of a historical site, maintaining some old walking paths and making new ones
june 9 - 21: my sisterzz come for a visit!
programme three___ june 18 - july 2
location___ interior iceland ("the highlands")
activity___ fixing and making walking paths and making the area more accessible, putting up signs, rebuilding a natural pool
programme four___ july 5 - july 19
location___stykkishólmur (west iceland, a small town close to reykjavik)
activity___working with the local community to reduce the spread of the lupine plant, planting trees and taking care of green areas
i am probably most excited about programme three because the area has been described as
"a true pearl to all nature lovers" & "is like nothing you have ever experienced. the mountainous centre of the iceland, with its rocky deserts, craggy mountain peaks, ice caps, volcanoes, hidden valleys and hot springs, is an awesome and untouched wilderness. lake hvítárvatn on the kjölur highland road glints icy-blue at the foot of the langjökull glacier, and in the barren black sands of sprengisandur the arctic river beauty blooms bright magenta."

Dearest Adam,
